
Overview
Dr. Yelizar received his dental training at the New York University College of Dentistry, from which he graduated with highest honors. While attending dental school, he was inducted as a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon and received numerous awards for scholastic excellence. Dr. Yelizar furthered his clinical skills in general and restorative dentistry by completing a general practice residency at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. It was during his dental school and general practice residency years, Dr. Yelizar developed a passion for orthodontics and was selected to enter the orthodontic residency program at St. Barnabas Hospital. Dr. Yelizar’s strongly believes in the phrase “Less is More”. Using his preventative and guiding approach, he doesn’t opt for extraction of teeth or perform surgery – unless absolutely necessary. He always choses the least invasive way possible to achieve a healthy and beautiful smile.
Dr. Yelizar is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Northeastern Society of Orthodontists. He regularly attends meetings and courses for continuing education and is currently preparing to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodonitcs.
